1. Can a domain name be deleted?

Yes, details here.


2. Can a domain name record be modified?

Yes, a domain name record can be modified.

If you want to modify the spelling of your domain name, you must register the name as a new domain name. Please see Registering a Domain Name. You must also delete the current domain name. Please see Deleting a Domain Name. A new registration fee will be charged; payments cannot be transferred. However, if you are modifying your domain name to reflect a legal name change, these rules and procedures apply.

If you want to transfer the domain name to another organisation, please see Transferring a Domain Name. Domain name record modifications can only be done online using the online Modify Domain Name Form.

Requests to make modifications can only be done by the Administrative Contact, the Technical Contact and/or Billing Contact as recorded in MYNIC’s database.

Contact Persons need to enter the correct username and password to access the application form.

 

Application Processing

1.    For personal domain name (.name.my), please click here.

2.    The modification requests below may only be done by the Administrative Contact:

  • Change of Password. All Administrative Contact's password modification requests will be updated.
  • Appoint a new Administrative Contact, i.e. for him- or herself to be replaced by another person. The new Administrative Contact must be an employee of the same Registrant organisation, who is authorised to speak and contract on behalf of the Registrant, and/or
  • Appoint a New Billing Contact, i.e. to replace the registered Billing Contact with a new Billing Contact, and/or
  • Appoint a New Technical Contact, i.e. to replace the registered Technical Contact with a new Technical Contact,and/or
  • Appoint a new Invoicing Party. i.e. to replace the registered Invoicing Party with a new Invoicing Party.
  • Modify the Administrative Contact record. Items that can be modified are first & last names, phone no., fax no. and e-mail address.
  • Modify the Registrant's record. Items that can be modified are address, phone no. and fax no.
          Non-automatic Updating
  • Modify Registrant's name. This request is to reflect a legal name change for companies registered under the Companies Act 1965, businesses registered under the Business Registration Act 1956, and societies registered under the Societies Act 1966. You must supply supporting documents  to confirm your application.

3.    The modification requests below may only be done by the Technical Contact.

  • Change of Password. All Technical Contact's password modification requests will be updated.
  • Modify Technical Contact record. This request is to change details of the current Technical Contact such as first & last names, address, phone no. and e-mail address, and/or
  • Change the primary/secondary name server. This request is to replace the registered primary/secondary name server with a new one, and/or
  • Add a secondary name server,and/or
  • Remove a secondary server.
          Non-automatic Updating
  • Modify the primary/secondary name server IP address. This request is to change the IP address of registered primary/secondary name server.

4.    The modification requests below may only be done by the Billing Contact:

  • Change of Password. All Billing Contact's password modification requests will be updated.
  • Modify Billing Contact Record. Items that can be modified are first & last names, address, phone no., fax no. and e-mail address.
  • Appoint a new Invoicing Party. i.e. to replace the registered Invoicing Party with a new Invoicing Party.

3. Can a domain name be transferred?

Yes. Please note the following:

  • Transfer process involves two (2) steps:-
    1. Deletion of the domain name registration for current Registrant
    2. New registration of same domain name for New Registrant.
  • Only the Administrative Contact is allowed to submit the transfer request, using the correct username and password.
  • Please note that the new Registrant will be sent an invoice for the domain name registration for the period dated from the transfer date. Fees paid by the current Registrant are neither refundable nor transferable.

 

(a) For 3LD categories (except .name.my),

These Domain Names can only be transferred to registered entities as stated in Supporting Documents.

Transfer steps:

  • The current Administrative Contact:
    1. Must provide all details ( i.e. (new Registrant's information, address, phone, fax number), Administrative, Technical and Billing Contact details and name server details) in the Transfer Domain Name Form.
    2. Will receive a notification e-mail from domreg@mynic.my within 2 working days after receiving New Registrant details.
    3. Will receive e-mail from MYNIC that domain name has been deleted.
    4. Domain name will be deleted (transfer) after 14 days from the date of the notification e-mail.
  • The new Administrative Contact:
    1. Will receive a notification to register e-mail from MYNIC after the deletion of the domain name. (Refer no.a(iv). above)
    2. Must furnish relevant Supporting Documents to MYNIC and payment to the Invoicing Party within 14 days from the date of deleted(transfer). If the new Registrant does not wish to apply for the domain name, or does not complete the registration process in any way, the domain name will be made available to the public.

 

(b) For .name.my category.

You have to transfer to individual (18 years age above).

To transfer (.name.my):
  • The current Administrative Contact
    1. Must fill in the new Registrant's details (such as new Registrant's information, display name, address, phone and fax numbers, e-mail address and e-mail forwarding address), Technical and Billing Contact details and name server details in the Transfer Domain Name Form.
    2. Will receive a notification e-mail from domreg@mynic.my within 2 working days after receiving New Registrant details.
    3. Will receive e-mail from MYNIC that domain name has been deleted.
    4. Domain name will be deleted (transfer) after 14 days from the date of the notification e-mail.
  • The new Administrative Contact:
    1. Will receive a notification e-mail from MYNIC after the deletion of the domain name. (Refer no. b(iv). above)
    2. Must furnish relevant Supporting Documents to MYNIC and payment to the Invoicing Party within 14 days from the date of deleted(transfer). If the new Registrant does not wish to apply for the domain name, or does not complete the registration process in any way, the domain name will be made available to the public.

 

(c ) For 2LD (.my).

You have an option either to transfer to individual (18 years age above) or to organisation. The steps is same as item a(i-vi).
